Gertrude J. Ankeny, 73, of Kittanning passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital while surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born Jan. 28, 1932 in Bruin to William and Charlene (Ellenberger) Sutton. Survivors include two sons, James E. Cousins and William S. Cousins and wife Cathleen, all of Kittanning; one daughter, Dixie Ann (Smith) Miller and husband James of Kittanning; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Jack Sutton of Palo Alto, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; William F. & Charlene Sutton, her first husband James Owen Smith, her second husband, Sharon Cousins; her third husband, Myron D. Ankeny; and one brother, Don Sutton.


Jeans ashes were scattered into the wind on a Beautiful sunny day in Late July 2005 at a lookout point overlooking Kinzua Dam in Pennsylvania as per her request before passing away. Her remains are in the same general area as her late husband Myron David Ankeny.

May you rest in peace Mom. Though your gone from this world you will not be forgotten. We will continue to light a candle on your birthday to celebrate your life and a flame that burned brightly...
