Her gravestone states her birth year as 1862, and it was shown as 22 January 1862 on her death certificate. The 1900 census reported her birthdate as Nov 1863, and all other census records are consistent with that date.

Mrs. Mary Haynes
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Tremellen) Haynes, 80, member of one of Johnstown's earliest families who died unexpectedly at 1:15 o'clock Saturday afternoon, at the home of her son-in-law, C. Porter Huntington, 724 Glenwood Ave., where she resided. The services will be held at the Picking Funeral Home with Rev. F.D. Esenwein, pastor of the Franklin St. Methodist Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Dr. Milton Cramer of Johnstown, Walter Cramer, Frank Cramer, Burton Tremellen and Delphin Coates, all of Pittsburgh, and Perry Katzenstein. The first five mentioned are nephews of Mrs. Haynes.
In ill health for the past two weeks, Mrs. Haynes apparently was recovering when she suffered a heart attack on Saturday and passed away a short time later. A daughter of William and Eliza (Keithley) [ ] Tremellen, she was born in the Haynes farmhouse, which was located on the present site of the intersection of Walnut and Carr Sts. The Haynes farm at one time occupied most of the present First Ward.
On Apr. 26, 1888, Mary Elizabeth Tremellen and Milton J. Haynes were married here, the ceremony uniting members of two of this city's pioneer families. Napoleon and Haynes Sts. are named after Napoleon Haynes, father of Milton J. Haynes, who constructed the first brick building in Johnstown at Willow and Somerset Sts. Milton Haynes died in April, 1917.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by two children---Merry, wife of Monnie Young, Millcreek Rd., and Nan, wife of Robert P. Reed, Luzerne St. Ext. Also surviving are a granddaughter Linda Lee Huntington, and a grandson, Robert P. Reed, Jr. A daughter, Mrs. Sara Huntington, wife of C. Porter Huntington, died on Sept. 26, 1941.
The deceased was a sister of mrs. Leone Hershey, South St., and Harry Tremellen, South St. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister---John H. Tremellen, who died Jan. 3, 1934; Frank and William Tremellen and Mrs. Ella Davis.
Mrs. Haynes was a member of the Franklin St. Methodist Church, the Amaranths, Ferndale Civic Club, and Ferndale Parent-Teacher Association. Friends are being received at the Picking Funeral Home.
