Dot was born on March 21, 1935, in Osceola to Emmett and Lillie Wilson.
She graduated from Osceola High School and attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She later attended the University of Memphis residing there and later moving to Jackson, Mississippi, where she enjoyed playing tennis, winning trophies in club tennis tournaments. Dot was an excellent swimmer and beautiful diver.
Marrying Gene Butler, she moved back to Osceola in the mid 70's. She was an avid tennis player at the Osceola Country Club. They later moved to Jonesboro where she became a member of First Methodist Church.
She was employed by State Farm Insurance in Jonesboro for over 30 years. Remembered by family, fellow employees, and customers for her outgoing personality, witty sense of humor, and funny one-liners, she was lovingly referred to as "Lucy".
She is survived by her children Cindy Leonard of Atlanta, GA, John Hornberger of Memphis, TN, Ann Clark of Union City, TN, and Joe Hornberger (Angela) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Lee Lakey, Chrissy Cobb, Robert Leonard, Andrew Leonard, and Joe Hornberger III; one brother, Ralph Wilson of Osceola; and many adoring nephews and nieces.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Gene Butler; her parents, Emmett and Lillie Wilson; brothers, Emmett, Denver, and Clarence (Jack) Wilson; sister, Lurline Wilson; and grandson, Patrick Clark.
Burial was at Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
