Eastport – Blanche (Wilson) McNutt, 92, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011. Blanche was born in Eastport on December 22, 1918, the daughter of the late Burton and Blanche (Spear) Wilson. She graduated from Shead Memorial High School and married her future husband, Walter McNutt on January 10, 1943. Blanche and Walter soon moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where Blanche worked as a secretary for the owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates. She took her Civil Service examine and was offered a job as a bookkeeper at a state hospital for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Upon Blanche's retirement from the hospital, she and Walter returned to Eastport. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Eastport.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Evelyn, Beatrice and Elizabeth, and both her brothers, John and Reid Wilson.

Surviving are her sister-in-law Marilynn Wilson of Eastport; four nieces, Patricia Nelson and her husband Ray of Redding, MA, Irene Rogers and her husband Skip of Dennysville, Blanche Barnes and her husband Ed of Robbinston, and Elaine Murphy and her husband Kenny of Eastport; two nephews, Reid Wilson Jr. of Eastport, who provided loving care for her during the last several years of her life, and John Reid Friedman of Bangor; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and her feline companions Baby and Freddie.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. (Bangor Daily News 4/2/2011)
