Pleasant View – Eugene L. Chatelain died March 31, 2011. He was born June 24, 1929 in North Ogden the son of Conard Edward and Myrtle Bates Chatelain. Eugene married Louanne Ellis in the Logan LDS Temple Feb. 14, 1960.

Eugene is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Sunday School Presidency and as a Scout Master. He served as a missionary in the Arizona, Holbrook Mission and the Texas, Dallas Mission; he was also a church Door Greeter.

He owned Hillside Nursery and enjoyed working in his garden, flower arranging and latch hook.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louanne; son, Paul E. Chatelain; daughters, Connie C. Newton, Denise C. Moore; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lavere Chatelain, Taylor and Russell Chatelain, Harrisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David; two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Pleasant View 12th Ward, 896 West Pleasant View Dr. Family and friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden and on Monday from 9-9:45 am at the church.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North.
