Conard L. Chatelain, 87, of South Ogden, passed away on June 13, 2014.

He was born May 21, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Conard Edward Chatelain and Myrtle Violet Bates.

He grew up on a farm in North Ogden and graduated from Weber High and attended Utah State University.

CL joined the Army, serving in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean Conflict, and later moved back to Ogden.

He married DelIda Vest in July of 1950 in Evanston, Wyoming; they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in December of 1990.

As a young man, he served as a stake missionary for the LDS Church, later he was an Ogden Temple Ordinance worker, Sunday School President, and served a service mission at the LDS Ogden Cannery.

CL worked forty-four years as a fireman and engineer on the Southern Pacific Railroad. He also worked for a glass company that put in the windows at the Ogden Tabernacle.

He enjoyed Quarter Horses and researching their pedigrees; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodwork, gardening, and spending time in the mountains. His greatest love was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

CL was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of sixty-one years, DelIda; and his siblings, Viola, Delbert, Eugene, Lou Cil, and Gordon. He is survived by his children, Ilene (Allan) Graves, Donna (Dan) Woodland, and Curtis LeVere (Sharon) Chatelain; fourteen grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and his brother, Russell Chatelain.

The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice (Laura) and Mountain Ridge Memory Care Unit, especially his favorite CNA, Heather.
