Daughter of Rev. Mordecai Bishop and Sarah Ann Dutro/Detrow. Married November 10, 1847 Morgan Co., OH to William H. Kerns. They had 5 children: Mrs. Lucetta Adelia Paine, Mordica Thomas "Doad", Mrs. Amanda Belle West, William Henry, and Charles Wesley Kerns.

--- Died, at her home in Athens, MO Friday, June 23, Mrs. Lucy Kerns. The deceased was born near McConnelsville, Ohio, May 24, 1829. She had been a constant sufferer for many years and died of cancer of the stomach. The funeral occurred on Saturday at 2 pm with sermon at the M.E. Church of which she had been a member for many years . Services were conducted by Rev. T. A. Burke. Two sons and two daughters, together with brothers , sisters and other relatives, survive.
