Born Emelia Rispoli in Manhattan, she moved to Port Richmond in 1951 and settled in Mariners Harbor in 1964.
After attending Drake's Business School, Manhattan, Mrs. Konecny was a secretary at Smiley Togs, a Manhattan children's clothing store. She later worked at Montgomery Ward on Staten Island.
She was involved in the Mariners Harbor and West Brighton senior citizens' clubs. She also participated in Meals on Wheels and was a member of SERVE.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed beading jewelry items and doing other crafts. She also loved taking trips to Atlantic City.
Mrs. Konecny was a parishioner of St. Michael's R.C. Church, Mariners Harbor.
"She was a very special person. She will be missed dearly," said her sister, Marie DiNoia.
Mrs. Konecny's husband of forty-nine years, Charles (Carl), died March 22.
Also surviving are her two sisters, Edith D'Antoni and Elena Puleo.
Mrs. Konecny's son, Charles Jr., died in 1998.
The funeral will be held on Monday from the Matthew Funeral home, Willowbrook, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Church.
Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
