According to the 1910 Census, Frank immigrated to the United States in 1882. Frank eventually moved westward and settled in Breese, IL and then Belleville, IL. In Belleville, Frank met Magdalena Farmbauer, who was later to become his wife. They were married at St. Peter's Cathedral, Belleville in 1887. Out of this union a large German-American family was born: two sons, Bernard (Bernhard), Henry (Heinrich), and three daughters -- Anna, Clara (Sister Mary Oswalda, PHJC) and Adelaide (born Adelheid). Frank worked as a manufacturer of railroad cars -- a trade learned in Osnabruck, Germany, and picked up this trade again in Belleville, eventually becoming a railway yard supervisor.
