Carola was born on November 18, 1928, the daughter of Eugen and Babette (Kainz) Berndl in Munich, Germany. She was raised and educated in Munich.
Carola was once married to Theryl E. Blackwell. They lived in Germany for a short time before coming to the United States. They had lived in New Jersey, Manhattan, NY, England, CA, and had moved to Minot in 1969. She had worked as a waitress for the Parker Johnson Hotel, Joventes and at the American Legion. She retired in 1990.
She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, dancing, needle point, beadwork and balloons. She was a giving person.
Carola was preceded in death by her parents; and her eight brothers and sisters.
