"The Fielder Funeral Saturday. Funeral services for Samuel Fielder, who died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. N. Baker, 17 Rural, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home. Rev. D. F. Cross, pastor of the First Christian church, will conduct the services. Interment will be in Maplewood cemetery. Samuel Fielder was born September 23, 1840 (this could be an error), in East Mendon, Monroe County, N. Y. He was married September 5, 1858 to Sarah Seaman at Superior, Nebr. (this is an error as well - he was married in Superior Twp., Michigan). A short time after his marriage he moved to Buffalo, N. Y. where he was owner of a butcher shop. Later he moved to Long Island, to Lenawee County, Mich., and in 1885 to Marion, Kan. Since that time he has lived at Louisburg and Neal, and in 1913 he came to Emporia with Mrs. Fielder to make his home with his daughter. Mr. Fielder is survived by Mrs. Fielder, three sons and four daughters. The children are: Charles Fielder, Manchester, Oklahoma; Mrs. G. U. Smith and W. H. Fielder, Tecumseh, Mich., Mrs. J. F. Shirley, Mrs. A. N. Baker and Mrs. Nettie Martin of Emporia; and E. G. Fielder, of Miami, Fla. Twenty-four grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren also survive.
