In 'Mr. Davis's Richmond' Kimmel writes:
'Sculptor A. Galt opened an exhibition at his studio to show the public his busts of Southern notables, among them Jefferson Davis, Governor Letcher, and Stonewall Jackson. He was very proud of a large head representing the genius of the Confederate States, which he had just finished. Shortly after the exhibition, his untimely death from smallpox took from the city a talented artist.'
