However, the vast majority of references to him by his children in the Federal Census records (twelve different records in all) show him to be born in Illinois. Levi lived in Fayette, Illinois when he married Clarissa Francis Sloan on 14 Jul 1873. Clarissa was also known by the nickname Fannie. From Illinois they moved to Missouri, then to Texas and finally to Oklahoma. Fannie, Levi's wife, was buried on their farm near Springer, Oklahoma. The exact site and year is unknown.
