Julia was the daughter of Andrew and Catherine (Gaugh) Jordan. She spent her first eighteen years living in the area of Freeport, IL before moving with her parents to Dakota Territory. She married Ed Fitzgerald in 1872. She spent the remainder of her life in southeastern South Dakota before her sudden death from an attack of appoplexy. She passed away before the doctor could reach her.
