"Henry Budd, a well known business man of this city, died suddenly yesterday morning, after being ill for several days, at his residence, No. 503 North Seventh street, aged seventy-two years. Deceased held numerous responsible positions in the community for many years. Deceased, who was a grain and commission merchant, retired from business in 1865. The first meeting for organizing a Corn Exchange in this city was held at Mr. Budd's house in 1850. He was also the temporary president of the meeting which organized the North Penn Railroad Company. He was first director and then president of the Beaver Meadow Railroad Company. He had been connected with the Northern Liberties Gas Works from its commencement. At the time of his death he was vice president of the Fire Insurance Company of the County of Philadelphia, and director of the Penn Township Bank. For several years he was president of the Green and Contes Street Passenger Railway Company. For two years Mr. Budd was also a member of Common Council."

His male friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, this morning, at 9 o'clock, from his late residence, No. 503 N. Seventh street. The family particularly request that no flowers be sent."
