Neil MacLeoad, Joel Winston Nicholas (mem #68114544), Carl Harvey Cox (mem #67754047), Louie Gilbert Barnes (mem #67652608), Harrell E. Markham, and Billy Ray Vance were killed in a head on crash on Friday, December 21, 1962. Markham and Vance were buried out of the state. All five were killed instantly except for Louie Gilbert Barnes who died three minutes after being taken to the hospital here in Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico.
