"Joseph Groff, Lawrenceburgh, was born in New Jersey in 1813. Mr. Groff was married, in 1834, to Delilah NOWLIN, a representative of of one of the oldest and most esteemed families of this county. Eight children were born to them, four of whom are still living: Mary, Cordelia, William and George. Mr. and Mrs. GROFF may be regarded as pioneers. They are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and highly respected as citizens in their community."
