Professed in 1954, he was ordained to the priesthood on April 30, 1960. Milner spent much of his life in the Caribbean, working in Grenada, Jamaica, and Trinidad, where for some ten years, he was a resident staff member lecturing in liturgical studies and was a member of the formation team at the at the Regional Seminary. Joining the Oxford community in his later years, he lectured and tutored sacramental theology and liturgy.
Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia less than three months before his death, Father Austin passed away at 3.30 am., on Monday, November 29, 2010, at the age of 75.
He was admirable in the way he accepted his illness and prepared for death.
