Dr. Jessica M. Hunter PhD, a longtime resident at Sandy Regional Care Center, passed away on Monday night, March 21, 2011.
Born May 23, 1920 in Minot, North Dakota, Jessica received a Bachelor's from Dartmouth and continued her education at Yale University, receiving two PhDs in Women Studies and Child Development.
Jessica was a part of the first group of enlisted women sworn into the regular Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of twenty-three. Jessica was a beautiful woman and is featured in the 25th Anniversary Women's Marines commemorative stamp.
She will be laid to rest at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park located in Bluffdale Utah.
