Funeral services for J. L. Caldwell, age 82, of Ledbetter, will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Wayne Carter and the Rev. Michael Wooley officiating. Burial with full military honors, rendered by the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard, will follow in the Dixon Cemetery at Grand Rivers.

Mr. Caldwell passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 10:20 p.m. at his home.

Born in Charleston, Missouri, Mr. Caldwell retired from the United States Air Force. Throughout his military career, J. L. served during World War ll, the Korean War, along with several tours of duty in Vietnam. He and his wife Doris, operated a booth at the Trader's Mall from the time it first opened , along with a catering business for weddings and other special occasions for 18 years. J. L. was a member of Ohio Valley Baptist Church.

J. L. is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris J. Slayton Caldwell, three daughters, Donna Forsythe, and her husband Gary, of Gilbertsville, Peggy Stafford, and her husband, Curt, of Grand Rivers, and Lorie Lawrence, and her husband, George, of Kevil. He is also survived by one son, Kenneth Caldwell, of Paducah, seven. grandchildren, Angela Marie Womble, Kristen Ann Faughn, Neal Stafford, Kenneth Caldwell, Joel Stafford, Josh Forsythe, and Jason Forsythe, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

J. L. was preceded in death by one grandson, Corey Faughn, two sisters, Dorothy Suggs, Marie Holder, and three brothers, James Caldwell, Wilburn Caldwell and Cecil Caldwell. His parents were James C. and Sudie Carman Caldwell.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
