The daughter of David Krockett Holloway and Mary C. King. Wife of John Chapel Mitchell whom she married Feb. 15, 1892 in Wilkes County, NC.

John and Celia Mitchell were the parents of 14 children:

Her father, David Krockett Holloway, was in the Confederate Army (33rd Infantry Regiment) and was severely wounded in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, shot three separate times; in the knee and in the forehead which resulted in blindness in one eye.

NORTH WILKESBORO, February 25----Mrs. Celia Susan Holloway Mitchell, 85, widow of J. C. Mitchell, died last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Harry Griffith of Wilkesboro, Route 2. She leaves 102 direct descendants.

She was born July 24, 1869, a daughter of David and Mary King Holloway. Her husband died several years ago.

Surviving are three sons, J. L. Mitchell of Wake Forest, Monroe Mitchell of Wilkesboro, and Lindon Mitchell of Moravian Falls; six daughters, Mrs. A. H. Holbrook of Moravian Falls, Mrs. Cora Holbrook of Roaring River, Mrs. Jack Byrd of High Point, Mrs. Joe Hayworth of Augusta, Ga., and Mrs. P. C. Wray and Mrs. Harry Griffith of Wilkesboro; forty-seven grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Methodist Church by the Rev. W. W. Blanton and the Rev. L. E. Sparks. Burial will be in the Crysel family cemetery.
