Services were held Wednesday morning at the United Methodist Church in Elwood for Charles Leggott, 91, of Elwood who died Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. The Rev. Clair Kess officiated and interment was in Elwood Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 18, 1892, in Gosper County. He farmed north of Elwood for many years and served as Gosper County treasurer and also committeeman in the ASCS office for a number of years. He was a 75-year-old member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by one son, Vaugn of Elwood; one daughter, Doris Baisinger of Kenesaw; one stepson, Dr. Cecil Baisinger, Bishop, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Leo [Ona] Steinbrink of Elwood; one sister, Alice Hall of Elwood; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to either the Elwood Care Center or the United Methodist Church in Elwood.

Charles Leggott first married Mabel Claire Snyder 25 Nov 1914 in Lexington, Dawson Co., NE. She died in 1940. He married second 4 Oct 1950 Ethel Phoebe Lauhead, widow of Francis Baisinger. She b. 1888, d. 1965.
