The daughter of Sigfred & Edith (Friberg) Asplund, Phyllis was born on the Friberg Family Farm in Florence, WI. She graduated from Florence High School and Whitewater State College (now UW-Whitewater). She taught Business Education in Waukesha, WI prior to her marriage to Florian Laper in 1945. She raised 3 children, Patrick, Joanne, & Peter. She taught at Ripon High School from 1962 until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Delta Zeta Sorority, and numerous church, community groups and organizations. She was a wonderful and admired mother, teacher and friend.
