Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart with Peter Baumert, branch president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dalhart, officiating. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home.
Mr. DeFries was born Sept. 10, 1947, in Dalhart to Milam R. and Sally L. Madded DeFries. He was a talented artist and leather worker, an avid reader; a gifted farmer and gardener; and he loved fast cars.
Survivors include two daughters, Dena Bye of Tulia and Lori Limbocker of Dumas; a son, Cullen DeFries of Holdenville, Okla.; a sister, Betty Yell of Collinsville, Okla.; and 10 grandchildren.
