Actress. Born Dolores Marie Loehr in Los Angeles, California, because of her exceptional abilities as a pianist, she was playing with the Los Angeles Junior Symphony Orchestra by age 12. She made her film debut playing the piano in "They Shall Have Music" (1939), followed by "There's Magic in Music" (1941), and debuted in a leading role in "The Major and a Minor" (1942). Before retiring from performing, her credits included "And the Angels Sing" (1944), "Easy Come, Easy Go" (1947), "My Friend Irma" (1949), "Bedtime for Bonzo" (1951), "Track of the Cat" (1954) and "Company of Killers" (1970). She has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for motion pictures and one for television. She died of a stroke at age 45.
