George Riggs Is Summoned
Ill the past five weeks, George W. Riggs, a resident of Ancona for 50 years before moving to Streator four years ago, died in his home, 1416 S. Bloomington St., at 3:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Final rites will be conducted Monday in the Wagner funeral home and burial will be made in Long Point Cemetery. The son of Charles and Anna (Newman) Riggs, he was born in West Unity, O., January 1, 1860, moving to Ancona 54 years ago to engage in farming. He followed that occupation for a half century and four years ago came to Streator with his wife, the former Maggie Gillan, to whom he was married December 16, 1884 in Wenona. They purchased the home at 1416 S. Bloomington street and had since resided there. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1934. Surviving Mr. Riggs are his wife; one daughter, Anita Mae Fowler, of Streator; two brothers, William of Chicago and Fred of Irons, Mich., 18 nephews and five nieces.
