Fay Miller

Fay Miller went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Nov. 6 at Care Inn in Llano
after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 30, 1925, to Vernon
Eugene Miller and Ora Pankey Miller in Fredonia. Fay was a World War II
veteran, serving in the United States Navy on the Pacific front. On Aug. 27,
1943, he married the love of his life, Merrilee Casner Miller, and they
celebrated their love for 65 years. Ranching, along with his two sons,
Frosty and Marc, in Llano, Mason, San Saba, Lampasas, Schleicher and Concho
counties, Fay was known for being very diversified in many phases of
agriculture and real estate. Different aspects included cow, calf,
yearlings, bred heifers, sheep, goats, enclosed hog operation, both laying
hens and meat turkey, farming and trading in real estate. One of his
proudest achievements was being one of the founding members of the Llano
National Bank, where he served as a board member since its inception until
his death. Fay was a member of the Church of Christ and served several terms
on the Llano Independent School Board. He was an avid fisherman and hunter,
but his family was primary in his life, as a devoted husband, father,
grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Vernon and Ora Miller; brother, Dallas Miller; and sisters, Lucille Shearer
and Nell Harris. Fay is survived by his loving wife, Merrilee Miller; sons
and daughters-in-law, Frosty and Vicki Miller and Marc and Judy Miller;
grandchildren, Heath Miller, Brittany Rabb, Faron Miller, and Fara and Matt
Underwood; and great-grandchildren, Heather Miller, Travis, Clayton and
Kyndall Rabb, Levi, Austin and Kinley Miller, and Maci and Mitchell
Underwood; five nieces and nephews; cousins; and a host of good and loving
friends. A funeral service was Sunday, Nov. 9 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne
Funeral Homes in Llano at 2 p.m., with Bro. Lester Bagley officiating.
Interment followed at Bluffton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Dale
Stockbridge, David Willmann, Dr. David Hoerster, Heath Miller, Faron Miller,
Bill Wootan, Terry Wootan, and T.J. Webster. Honorary pallbearers were Dick
Compton, Dick Hoerster, M.J. Wooten, Brittany Rabb, and Fara Underwood. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Llano Memorial
Hospital, 200 W. Ollie, Llano, TX 78643 or to the Llano Church of Christ,
