Mullins, May 31 - Boyd Ford, retired farmer of the Floyds section of Horry County, died Wednesday night at a Mullins hospital following a declining illness of seven years.
He was born in Marion County on March 22, 1876, a son of the late William A. and Flora Scott Ford but had made his home in the Floyds community for the past 60 years. As long as his health permitted, he was an active member of the Floyds Methodist Church and of the Little Pee Dee Masonic Lodge AFM 83.
Funeral services conducted by his pastor, the Rev. E. King Scoggins, and the Rev. Mark Osborne will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Floyds Methodist Church. Burial service, conducted by Little Pee Dee Masonic Lodge, will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Nichols. The body will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Friends may call at the Meares Funeral Home.
He is survived by his widow the former Miss Zonnie Elvington; four daughters, Mrs. Quincy Small of Nichols, Miss Ethel Ford of Danville, Va., Mrs. Juanita Schofield of Florence, and Mrs. Carolyn McCracken of Kingstree; four sons, T-Sgt. Dennie L. Ford of Lake Charles, La., Murphy W. Ford of West Columbia, T.Sgt. Curtis B. Ford of Shaw Field and William A. Ford of Nichols; two sisters, Mrs. Callie Small of Fair Bluff and Mrs. Alice Jackson of Nichols.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
