JOSEPH HUMBLE DIES SUDDENLY
Joseph Humble died very suddenly early Friday morning, December 12, 1941 of a heart ailment. He had been feeling much better in recent months, after suffering from a heart attack some time ago and had accepted a post in the Lanesboro council as well as deciding to carry on his usual work.
Joseph Humble was born at Highland Prairie south of Rushford on March 16, 1899, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Humble, early settlers of the neighborhood. There were twelve children and his parents died while Joe was still a child.
Mr. Humble grew to young manhood at the old home on Highland Prairie where he attended the Batsberg school and also at Rushford. He farmed the homestead for a time then entered the commercial field and came to Lanesboro 19 years ago. He first clerked at the Farmer's Store and later went into the grocery business, first with Otto Moe and later for himself.
On October 22, 1925 he was united in marriage to Martha Iverson Savig and established a home in Brooklyn.
Joe has always taken an active part in village affairs, assisting financially all worthy causes and was willing to lend a helping hand or word of advice to all who asked. Of recent years he became the first president of the Lanesboro Commercial club and was just elected as a member of the Lanesboro village council by an almost unanimous number of the votes cast.
During his years in Lanesboro he had made many friends, thru.......all of whom were ..........the Bethlehem Lutheran church Monday, Dec. 15 by Rev. P. J. Nestande and burial was made in the family lot at Whalan with the Thompson Bros. in charge.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Humble and ten brothers and sisters, Mrs. Julis Williams, Mrs. Albert Holle, Mrs. Thore Jenson, Soren Humble, Mrs. Melvin Anderson, Elvin Humble, Laurence Humble all of Rushford and vicinity; Adolph Humble, Peterson; Mrs. P. A. Peterson, Thief River Falls and Edward Humble of Walford, N.D.
