Rose Denton Carpenter, 76, of Florence, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, after an extended illness. She was a member of Florence Boulevard Church of Christ, 50 years as a Bible school teacher, which was her greatest passion. Visitation was last evening at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Florence Boulevard Church of Christ, with burial following in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Kelby Smith, Chris Kemp and Dale Boren. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lynwood Carpenter Sr.; parents, Felix and Alice Hovater Denton; three sisters; two brothers; a granddaughter, Hannah Carpenter. She is survived by her sons, Ray Carpenter Jr. (Pat), of Florence, Frank Carpenter (Paula), of Nesbit, Miss., Floyd Carpenter (Libby), of Harvest, Ala.; daughters, Nancy Mitchell (John), of Chattanooga, Tenn., Susan Hines (Harold), of Florence; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Andy Mitchell, Ray Carpenter III, Wyatt Carpenter, Whit Carpenter, Johnny Denton and .
