Hazel Esther Vaughn, 74, of Mountainair passed away Dec. 20 in Albuquerque.

She was born to Bert and Ollie (Dye) Kayser on May 21, 1930, in Mountainair. Hazel was a member of the Eastern Stars and the First Baptist Church. She married Jack E. Vaughn on Nov. 9, 1946, in Belen. Hazel will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Marvin Vaughn and his wife Maureen of Grants; daughters Lynda Turner and her husband Everett of Mountainair, Renee Brooks of Mountainair, Ardath Owens and her husband Jack of Albuquerque; brothers Louie Kayser and his wife Artie of Deming, Phillip Kayser and his wife Mary of Amarillo, and Ray Kayser and his wife Hedi of Mountainair; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Vaughn, and her parents, Bert and Ollie Kayser.

A viewing took place Dec. 22 at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair. A service will be held Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Mountainair with Pastor Bruce Medlin and Glenn Fulfer officiating. Interment will follow at the Kayser Eastview Cemetery in Mountainair.
