WILMA ABEL

Wilma Abel was born to Clarence Otto and Harriet Beatrice Brown, March 29, 1909. She passed away Nov. 4, 2001, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa, of a heart attack, at the age of 92 years.

She married Floyd Eugene Abel Aug. 22, 1926. She grew up and lived most of her life around Chariton, Iowa.

She was a very active woman including: Daughters of the American Revolution, Lucas County Historical Society, Lucas County Genealogical Society, Chariton Women's Club, Chariton Garden Club, Chariton Saddle Club and Three Mile Lane Club. Also, Wilma and her husband were active and supported the Iowa State Fair for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Louise.

Wilma leaves to cherish her memory one son, Wayne, and his wife Mary Alice Abel of Creston; one daughter, Wretha, and her husband Ray Webb of Murray; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Jackson of Chariton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held at Fielding Funeral Home, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Brian McCracken officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery. Serving as bearers were: Kyle Abel, Gene McNeish, Jeff Nelson, Benjamin Werner, Joe Werner and Nikolaus Werner.
