FORMER GUTTENBERG RESIDENT SUMMONED
BEN ALBERS, SEVENTY-TWO YEARS OLD, PASSES AWAY AT COTTONWOOD, IDAHO
Ben Albers, a former resident of Guttenberg, passed away at his home at Cottonwood, Idaho, on October 4, 1927, at the age of 72 years and 10 days. He had been in failing health for the past few months and his demise was principally due to a general break down due to advanced age.
Deceased was born in Hanover, Germany, on Sept. 14, 1855, and came to America when 17 years of age. He settled first in Guttenberg, Iowa, later moving to South Dakota, where he was married and lived several years. The family later moved back to Iowa and then returned again to South Dakota, going from that state to Cottonwood, Idaho, in the fall of 1901. He lived for a number of years on a farm near Cottonwood, but sold the place and moved to Cottonwood some ten or twelve years ago, residing there continuously since that time.
Mr. Albers was a lifelong, faithful member of the Catholic church. He was a kind and true husband, father and friend, and an honest and upright citizen.
His death is deeply mourned by his wife and four children: Ben C., of Chewelah, Wash: John, of Fort Benton, Mont: Frank and Mrs. Frank Forsman; of Cottonwood, Idaho. Two small children died in infancy. A brother of the deceased resides at Salem, S.D.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Willibrod at the Catholic church at Cottonwood on the morning of October 6. The body was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery there.
