Son of John A and Sarah J (Creed) Doggett
He married his brother Marshall's widow Nellie Maude (Reddick) Doggett in 1911
She died in 1960 in Washington.
They had 4 children.

Nelson Barrier Doggett, the third child of eleven. He passed away at the age of 73 years, six months and 19 days..
Surviving him includes one sister, Mrs. Mary S. Moore of Osceola, and two brothers, Armistead A. of Villisca, Iowa, and John C. of Hartford, So. Dakota. His mother came with the eleven children to Dodge Co., Nebr., in 1873 where they lived until 1876 then moved to Page County, Iowa. In 1880 Mr. Doggett came to Polk County where he resided until his death.
He was married to Mrs. Maud Doggett Jan. 7, 1912 and to this union four children were born: Mary Catherine, Homer, Iva and Edith Lucille. Homer and Edith died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mary and Iva, and two step-children, Velma and Channing Doggett.
Nels Doggett was a pioneer who passed through many of the privations and sufferings of that early time. He was a man of truth and honesty whose word was as good as his bond. He was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and friend. He was afflicted with a lingering disease and suffered intensely for a year and a half, and death came to him as a happy release from suffering.
The funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon by Rev. Handel Collier, pastor of the Methodist Church and interment was made in the Osceola cemetery.
