He was married twice, other spouse unknown at this time.


On the 1852 California census, on 15 July 1852, he was living with his wife Caroline A. in Sacramento County, California. He was hotelkeeper born in Connecticut. Caroline was born in England. Their previous residences had been in Illinois.


Arrived in Chicago in 1835. Traveled across the plains at least three times. He went to Sacramento for a time before returning to Chicago in 1860.

Formerly hotel keeper of American Temperance House, Chicago, and for 12 years was a hotel keeper in Sacramento, California. In addition, he was a restaurant owner and a surveyor.

His obituary stated he had been married twice but had no children.

He died in his residence on Indiana Avenue, Chicago.
