Eusebia Graveyard is twelve miles northeast of Maryville, near the Old McTeer fort and near the Old Indian War Path, Blount County. John's son, Alexander McCallie, May 7, 1781-Oc 9, 1851 is also buried here. Beside his grave is a very old stone marker which perhaps is the grave of his father John McCallie. John McCallie is also the father of Susannah McCallie Davis Jack, 1847 Oregon Pioneer. John McCallie was born January 8, 1754 in Whithorn, Scotland. Alexander McCallie's wife, Esther McCrosky, was the niece of Elizabeth McCrosky and Sam Houston. This Sam Houston was a brother of the famous General Sam Houston's grandfather Robert Houston.

John McCallie by his first wife Nancy Burney (born in Scotland) had three sons, Alexander, John, and Andrew; and two daughters, Susannah and Catherine. By his second wife, Mary McCullough, they had Thomas, Archibald, Nancy and Elizabeth.

John McCallie's descendants founded the McCallie Boys' School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Will Transcript

In the name of God Amen, I John McCallie Senior of the County of Blount and State of Tennessee being far advanced in years and weak of body but of Sound mind and disposing memory and Knowing that it is ordained for all men to die and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me first it is my will and desire then my just debts and funeral expenses be speedily and punctually paid by my executors herein after named immediately after my decease ~
Item to my wife Mary McCallie I give and bequeath one horse to be of the value of fifty dollars, one feather Bed, Bedstead and furniture, one side Saddle, one Bureau, all the household furniture which I may be possessed of at my decease and the use of my dwelling house also one Motch lefie? and also it si my will that my said wife have a comfortable Maintainance out of my estate during her natural life . I also give to my Said wife one Negro woman named Poll for her Sole use and benefit but it is my will that at the death of my said wife the Saul Horse and Saddle be sold by my executors and the money arising from the sale thereof to be disposed of as herein after mentioned. I also give to my said wife Mary my negro man Harry during her natural life and at the death of my said wife Mary it is my will that the said negro man Harry have his freedom and be emancipated.
Item it is [my] will that the residue of my estate both real and personal be Sold by my my [sic] executors and the money arising from the sale thereof to be equally divided amongst and between my Son[s] Alexander McCallie, John McCallie, Thomas McCallie, Archibald McCallie, Andrew McCallie, Susannah Jack and her husband Jeremiah Jack, Nancy Jack and her husband James Jack, Elizabeth Jack and her husband Allen Jack and the children of my daughter Catharine and her husband Robert Davis, all the Said Children to gather to have a share equal to one of the other legates above named.
Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my sons Alexander McCallie and Thomas McCallie executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others.
In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal.
Eighth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.
