She was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Roosevelt, to John Franklin and Nettie May Bowers Tryon. She married Clyde Ladell Miller on Jan. 28, 1947, in Nevada. He died May 23, 1995.
Joey treated everyone equally and lovingly and made each person feel special. She was a caretaker of everyone, especially to her husband and son during their sicknesses. She ran a daycare in her home for many years. She enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing, and hunting and some of her favorite places were the Book Cliffs, Whiterocks Canyon, and Blue Mountain.
Her fried chicken was the best and she took great pride in everything her family did. Weekends were a holiday at Grandma's and her Sunday dinners were always a special occasion. Her strong will, independence, and fierce loyalty were with her till the end.
Joey is survived by her children, Jean (Cliff) Hensley, Oregon; Jim Miller, Indian Bench; Connie (Kenneth) Shurtleff, Gusher; Ronnie Miller, LaPoint; 25 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; a sister Delma (Daryl) Gibbons, Gusher; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; parents, John and Nettie; son, Joe Miller; infant son Shelly Dell Miller; brothers and sisters, Joe Tryon, Lavell O'Neil, Mary Larsen, John Tryon and Bill Tryon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs., May 12 at the Ballard LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10-10:45 a.m., Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
