Charles Burnside, 85, of Luthers Mills, Pa., passed away at the Robert Packer Hospital on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
Charles was born on April 24, 1926 in Moosic, Pa., to the late John and Anna Radle Burnside.
Charles entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and after serving in Germany in the infantry during World War II was discharged in 1946. After his discharge, Charles went to work for the Virginia Barrel Co. in Ridley Park, Pa.
In 1955 the family purchased a dairy farm in Luthers Mills where Charles resided until his death.
Charles is survived by brothers, John (Alberta), Edward (Phyllis), George, David, William (Paulette) Burnside; and sister Dorothy Woodward (Charles); nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Gene Snyder; brothers, James and Oliver; and niece, Emma Brown.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa.
The Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda, Pa., is assisting the Burnside family with arrangements.
