Agnes Brown Spivey, 100, of Leicester, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2006 following a period of declining health.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and children. She loved to read, and to work hard. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church, where she was active in church services, Sunday School, the Perry Bible Class, and as an XYZ Senior Citizen.
Mrs. Spivey was the daughter of the late James A. and Elizabeth Rymer Brown, and the widow of Frank M. Spiveyo, who passed away in 1968. She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul F. Spivey.
Surviving are her daughter, Sue Israel, of Leicester; sister, Edith Brown of Asheville; daughter-in-law, Betty Spivey of Asheville; two grandchildren; Judy Bond and husband Jerry, and Larry Spivey and wife Tina, all of Asheville; and two great-grandsons; Jeremy Bond of Asheville and Jamey Bond and wife Amanda of New Mexico.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at West Asheville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. James Johnson and Rev. Dave Tucker officiating.
Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons, great-grandsons, and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Pisgah Manor Health Care Center, Attn: Activities Dept., 95 Holcombe Cove Road, Candler, NC 28715.
