Unfortunately, that is a misprint, however fortunately, little Alexander was given a stone and it survives today.
Another error appears to be the date of death, the book seems to be off a year, let's go with the stone.
Another thing that may throw someone is the 1850 census, which shows the Horace Emery family, and one of the children shown is Norton, who is actually Alexander N. "Norton" Emery. I'm sure he was a delight to his family, he died at the tender age of 1 year and 10 months, God bless his little soul.

Gravesite Details
The headstone was "brought to life" using a Paint Pen. Otherwise the sun, the abrasive sand from the field across the road, and Father Time will eventually completely obliterate the lettering.
