The most wonderful mother in the world, who "lived" a christian life and was always there for her family. She was such a loving person and showed her love every day of her life.

The Hamilton Herald-News February 8, 2001

Mildred DeHart Drake, 76, a native of Hamilton County, died January 31, 2004, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law after an extended illness.

She was born on October 24, 1924, in the Ohio community of Hamilton County, the daughter of Rev. Allen Boone and Nellie Stephens DeHart.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, affectionately called "Big Mama" by her family.

Mrs. Drake was a devoted Christian and lived that life to the end, being an example for others. She was baptized in the Baptist Church as a young person.

She was married to Sam Drake on July 13, 1941, and in Hamilton, and they had retired there in 1982 after having lived in Albuquerque, NM; Orange, Austin, and Waco, TX.

She moved to Tomball to be closer to her children in 1997, after the death of her husband on July 25, 1995.

Mrs. Drake's faith never waned even with all of the health problems that eventually took her life. She always had a sweet spirit right up to the end.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Alton Earl Drake and wife Merajen, Sam Allen Drake, Jr. and wife Janis, Mildred Drake Damewood and husband Garnett, and Sarah Drake Bone and husband Tony, who was totally devoted to Mildred to the end.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Mike Bone, Ronnie Bone, Kristi Bone, Brittany Drake, DeAnn Jarrett, Greg and Melissa Drake; and great-grandchildren, David Michael Bone, Stacie and Jason Bone, Brianna Baker, Kalla Katelyn, Dakota Unger, Cory Weather, and Thomas and Nicholas Jarrett; and a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Drake.
