Joseph Groom died at his residence about 1 ½ miles west of Liberty, Wed. evening and was buried yesterday from Little Shoal church. "Uncle Joe" as he was called by all his acquaintances was perhaps the oldest man in Clay Co. Had he lived until the 10th of Aug. he would have been 94 years old. He came to this county in 1824 and in 1825 settled on the farm where he died. Leaves 5 sons and 3 daughters, among who are Capt. Jno S., Michael and Porter, all prominent and highly respected citizens.
