OBITUARY Iron River Reporter May 19 1986 "Obituaries: John Stetz"
BATES TOWNSHIP-John Stetz, 75, of Bates Township, died suddenly and unexpectedly Nov. 13 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was born Sept. 16, 1911 in Chicago, Ill. He moved to the local area as a child and attended the Stambaugh public schools. He was employed by the Hanna Mining Co. for 29 years, and following his retirement worked for the Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for 12 years. He was a charter member of the West Iron County Federal Credit Union and had served as a deacon, head usher, and treasurer at the Assembly of God Church in Iron River. He was currently a member of the Four Square Gospel Church in Crystal Falls. He married the former Eleanore Horn on May 31, 1941.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son John Jr. of Minneapolis; a daughter Cheryl Ehlinger of Norway, Mich.; two brothers, Frank Stetz of San Diego, Calif. and Joseph Stetz of Chicago; a sister Rose Segerson of Iron River; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Nov. 15 at the Brooks-Langenberg Funeral Home in Iron River.
Services were held Nov. 16 at the funeral home. The Rev. Donald Smith, former pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Iron River, officiated.
Burial was in Bates Cemetery.
