William D. "Bill" Starostka, age 74, of Cedar Bluffs, NE, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at Fremont Area Medical Center.

He was born December 3, 1936 at Clarks, NE to Leo and Eva (Stopak) Starostka. He grew up at Clarks and attended Clarks High School. He attended seminary for 6 years at Memominee, Michigan Seminary and St. Procopius Seminary in Lisle, Illinois. He worked as Head Counselor at Boys Town for several years and then he worked for Marianna Inc., near Cedar Bluffs, NE for over 25 years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Cedar Bluffs, Knights of Columbus and he was an Instituted Acolyte.

Survivors include: brother – Clarence Starostka of Grand Island, NE; sister-in-law - Rosie Rosie Starostka of Grand Island, NE; nieces and nephews – Betty, Jim, Gary, Nancy, Cindy, Mary Jo, David, Marc and Danny.

He was preceded in death by: parents; brother – Bob Starostka; sister-in-law - Louise Starostka; nephew – Tommy Starostka; great nephew – Michael Starostka; and good friend Msgr. Andrew Meister.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon, NE. Father Matthew Vandewall and Msgr. Timothy Thorburn will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9-10:30 A.M., with a Rosary/Vigil Service at 9:30 A.M., all at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 P.M. at Clarks/Calvary Cemetery west of Clarks, NE, with Father Richard Whiteing officiating.

Memorials may be directed to Boys Town or to the family.
