Rufina was christened at the Parish of Saint Augustine on August 15, 1841. Her saint name, Rufina, refers to Rufinus (Spanish: Rufino), Bishop of Assisi.

In 1850, she was attending school in Saint Augustine. She married John A Dunbar on May 7, 1857, in Duval County, Florida. In 1860, her niece Constance Culp was living with her and John in Jacksonville. After John died, she married Henry Walter Marvin on August 1, 1866, in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut.

Henry and Rufina were living in Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey, in 1880. By 1900, she was a widow living at 100 E Grand Street, the home of her niece Mary E Rector, in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. Rufina is the mother of four children; all were deceased before 1900. She died sometime before 1910.
