He left his family farm in Iowa in 1899, bought land 13 miles Northwest of Lexington, Nebraska, were he spent the balance of his life. On Jan 1, 1901 he was united in married with Emma Edna Charlotte Velte. To this union 7 children were born.

Albert farmed a large acreage mostly in wheat. Owning and operated a thrashing rig for many years. After losing his right arm in a farm accident, he went in to the poultry business concentrating on egg production. This led to involvement in egg marketing for the area farmers. He was a pioneer in Pump Irrigation, a factor in survival during the dust bowl years.

After his wife was killed in a farm accident involving a gasoline fire in Aug. 1938, he married one of Emma's kid sisters Hattie May Velte on May 29, 1941.
