Betty was a medium size dog I befriended while visiting the Largo Animal Services. She caught my attention immediately. She warmed up to me immediately but not with other visitors.
My Mom had adopted one dog there that day but I couldn't put Betty out of my mind and on the way home I tried to talk my Mom into adopting the little dog.
My Mom said she was open to adopting another dog but when we got to the shelter, my Mom did not click with Betty. My Mom thought Betty was not friendly. She had cherry eye so it looked as if Betty was giving people nasty looks at times. It was not the case. My Mom really did not want Betty and nothing I said changed her mind. Maybe I did not try as hard as I should have. It was just too much. The shelter was overwhelming for me. However, I never forgot Betty and I know in my heart she would have made a wonderful family pet.
She was euthanised shortly after. I have not forgotten sweet Betty.
