Tabby came into my life August 1987 when I went to a cat show. I was just supposed to LOOK at cats, not buy one. This was before I realized I should really go to a shelter. Anyway, this beautiful kitty looked at me from her cage w/her litter mates w/such a teddy bear face, that she HAD to come home w/me and help to keep Zorro cat company (who had been a stray).

Tabby was a VERY sweet cat. I think it was because she was born on Valentine's Day. Who COULDN'T be sweet if they were born on that day! She and Zorro played and played. Tabby LOVED string, yarn, the rings from jugs of milk, wheat stalks and paper bags. She was THE softest kitty w/THE cutest face! Especially when she had a fang tooth pulled when she was older. Her upper lip would get pushed up by a lower fang and she would then have a 'snaggle-tooth' look.

Josie cat then comes into my life in July 1993. The three of them got along fairly well. When I wasn't looking, they would snuggle together. They didn't want me to know that they actually got along.

Time marches on, and Zorro passes away due to hyperthyroid related issues in March 1997 at the age of 11 years. So now, it is Tabby & Josie.

In June 02, we meet David, who has a dog, Mars, and two cats, Grover & Q - three boys. I have two girls, and we laugh, stating it is like the Brady Bunch. We find out that it is Tabby who likes Mars. We would find them resting on the bed together when Mars visited my apartment. Josie tolerated Mars. We thought it was going to be the other way around. But we also knew that Tabby did not have a mean bone in her body. Only sweetness. When she would lay next to you on the couch or on the bed, she HAD to be touching you, even if it was just her paw.

Tabby was diagnosed w/hyperthyroid in 2002. Treatment was a cream rubbed on her ear once a day. The cream had to be made by a mom/pop pharmacy. The BIG box pharmacies wouldn't do it. As time went on, her body started to fail her. She was on high-blood pressure medicine, something for her kidneys and was receiving sub-q fluids everyday, as well as the cream in her ear, which she took all in stride. Eventually, her kidneys gave out which then affected her entire body.

The hard decision was made. We got tranquilizers from the St Louis Cat Clinic (Tabby HATED the car), and a week later, made the hard drive to the Clinic. The Drs and staff there are great, and let us take as long as we needed before we drove home w/Tabby in the carrier.

Tabby is buried in the ravine behind our house w/a t-shirt of mine, a milk jug ring and a stalk of wheat. She is w/Spike, Mars and Josie.

There are other pets in my life now, but none fill the hole left by my sweet, sweet Tabby. I miss you, my sweet, sweet girl.
