When I got to Kenmare with the schoolbus I stopped at the Kenmare News and got this.

The funeral was held Monday October 8th, 1990, in Faith
Lutheran Church, Hamilton, MT, for Milton H. Coons, 83, Hamilton, formerly of Minot, who died Thursday October 4th, in a Missoula, MT, hospital following complications of heart surgery. Cremation followed and burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Hamilton.

He was born June 6, 1907, in Baden, to William and Elsie Coons. He worked for the North Dakota Highway Department and later on construction of the Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD, and on the Fort Peck Dam in Montana. He married Irene Peterson in Minot September 29, 1931. He went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad, then Great Northern, in 1942, in Minot. After retiring in 1970, they moved to Hamilton and had lived there since.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Brotherhood of American Carmen, the Burlington Northern Vets Association, the Bitterroot Retired Railroad Vets, the Montana Senior Citizens, the Bitterroot Historical Society, and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was director for the Council on Aging since its beginning, a director of the C&C Ditch and served
on the corporation board of Sapphire Lutheran Homes.

He was named Outstanding Senior Citizens of Ravalli County in 1981 and was nominated for the Senior Citizens of Montana Award in 1989. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 13 years and drove many cancer patients to their treatments m Missoula.

Survivors include his wife, at 701 N. 3rd St., Hamilton, 59840; daughters, Cora Rein, Pittsburgh,
Sharon Gates, Grand Forks, Beverly McDaniels, Hamilton; five grandchildren; sisters, Florence Torbenson, Minot, Blanche Barnes, Stevenson, WA; half brothers, William Coons, Donnybrook, Donald Coons, Alaska.
