A member of a pioneer family in Bear Valley in southern San Benito County that arrived in 1866. Parents were Clarence Bacon and Grace Butterfield Bacon.
Active in many organizations, including the United Methodist Church, The Farm Bureau and Cattlemen's Association, where he was a director, the Land Conservation Commission, 33rd Ag District Board, San Benito County Board of Supervisors and The Saddle Horse Association. Also was a trustee for Bear Valley and Jefferson Schools.
Survived by wife, Carol, of Paicines and Hollister, children and their spouses, Jean and John Barrett, Susan and Stephen Tonjes of San Ramon and John and Robbie Bacon of King City, his sisters, Martha Miller of Litchfield and Marian Peel of Ocean Hills. Survived by 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by son Alan Bacon who died in 1967, brother, Warren Bacon, and sister, Barbara Hunt. Survived by 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home with burial at the IOOF Cemetery.
